Maya Ciurcel is 12 years old and attends

Incarnate Word Academy

in #Cleveland. She started her musical career in 2014 with piano lessons with Ms.

Olga Druzhinina

. She started voice lessons with Ms. Druzhinina in 2017 and has been performing as a caroler in the Cleveland Ballet’s representation of The

Nutcracker since then.

In 2018 Maya had her operatic debut with Cleveland Opera Theatre. She had the role of Katja in composer

Dawn Lenore Sonntag, composer and performer

‘s Verlorene Heimat world premiere opera.

Maya participated in a few local and international competitions: Ohio Federation of Music (Unanimous Superior), Great Composers International Competition (3rd place), Melos International Competition at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome Italy (3rd place), Crescendo Little Mozart Competition in the voice category at Carnegie Hall (2nd place).

2019 was a successful musical year for Maya. She participated in the Ohio Federation of Music competition in both piano and voice categories. She received a Unanimous Superior award for both.

She represented the United States in The Children of Albion International Singing Competition in London where she was awarded first place out of more than fifty participants in ten countries. She also had the honor of performing a third time at Carnegie Hall as a 1st place winner of American Protegee

International Singing Competition.

Maya is a member of the Etymology, Chess, Spelling Bee and German Club. She plays piano, violin and flute. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her friends or be outdoors with her family.
